Fun Navigator of the Seas Itinerary – Royal Carribean

Royal Caribbean just recently had a huge renovation of one of their ships,  Navigator of the Seas and I had the opportunity to experience it last week on a 5 day Caribbean cruise and I absolutely loved it!

I can not recommend it enough. There was so much to see and do and eat! I promise you will love it too! So with out further ado, I will explain everything there is to know about Navigator of the Seas!

DAY 1

Boarding the Navigator of the Seas in Miami

You can easily reach the Miami Port from the Miami or Fort Lauderdale airports. You can take an uber, lyft or there are shuttles that run to the cruise ports.

The check in process was smooth and easy and we arrived around 11:30 AM. We had to wait in a lounge area for about 30 minutes before they started letting everyone on. There are areas where you can check your bags in so you will receive them later at your stateroom. I definitely recommend this if you have any big suitcases. We got on the ship at around 12:00 PM, but you are unable to go to your stateroom until 1:00 PM. Luckily, the Windjammer Marketplace was open (which is free to everyone on the cruise) so we were already able to start enjoying our day and eating a delicious lunch. The Windjammer Marketplace is a low key buffet, but the options change every day and it was quite yummy.

I absolutely loved our room on Navigator of the Seas! We had one of the balcony rooms, which I highly recommend! It was so fun being able to see the view of the ocean right outside our room. The queen sized bed was super comfy and we also had a seating area with a couch. There was a large vanity and mirror which was the perfect area to get ready in the morning. We also had a nice sized closet so I could hang up all of my dresses.

Sail Away Party

Every day in your stateroom, you receive a Cruise Compass which has all sorts of helpful information including the weather, when sunrise and sunset are, a list of activities for the day, descriptions of the restaurants and if there is any theming for the evening (for example casual dress, formal night, 70’s night, etc.)

We were excited to see there was a Sail Away Party right when the ship leaves Miami near the pool area. It was fun to watch the city go by as we sailed away and there were so many people outside having a great time. There is a new bar on the ship called The Lime and the Coconut and it is actually 3 stories tall right next to the pool! The seating area is so colorful and fun and there is room for lots of people to hang out, and if you want, easy to mingle and make new friends.

They serve up tropical cocktails (or mocktails) and have drinks like a Pina colada, Blue Hawaiian, etc. They also have a special every single day that you can only get that day.

NOTE: Soda and cocktails are not included in the price of the cruise so you can opt to get a daily or weekly drink package. With the soda package, you get a fun souvenir cup and they have those fun drink machines around the cruise!

Dinner at Jamie’s Italian

We decided to try Jamie’s Italian for our first dinner on the cruise and it didn’t disappoint. The appetizers were delicious and the pasta was very good! I decided to order the lasagna dish and it was really delicious. One of my favorite parts about this restaurant was the design and the relaxed atmosphere.

Evening Activities and Balloon Drop

Again, you can refer to your Cruise Compass to see what activities are happening each night that might entice you. I also recommend downloading the Royal Caribbean app. It has a list of each day’s activities as well and even tells you where on the ship they are! Some of my favorite evening activities included Headliner shows, outdoor movies on the pool deck, karaoke, comedy shows, dance parties and more!

On the first evening of Navigator of the Seas’ sailing they have a Big Welcome Balloon Drop at midnight! It is so fun and it makes it feel like new years eve.  It is a great way to be welcomed onto the cruise ship! To be honest, I was very tired our first night because I had an overnight flight the night before, but I decided to try and stay awake for it and it was honestly so much fun! A ton of people come and gather in the Promenade area where music is playing just before midnight and then you have a countdown- 10,9, 8- and at the end of the countdown, tons of balloons drop from the ceiling and everyone celebrates! I highly recommend this activity!

Navigator of the Seas – Day 2 Nassau, Bahamas Port

Get Hair Styled at the Blow Dry Bar

Another one of my favorite features of the Navigator of the seas was the Blow Dry Bar- To Dry For (such a cute name!) It is the first Blow Dry Bar at sea and they have you covered from blowouts, hair styling and nail polish changes. The design of the space is so cute as well and they have this amazing bright pink wall in the back. They have a list of about 8 choices of how you can get your hair styled including beach waves, Hollywood glam, updos and braids. I decided to go with the Mermaid Curls! They wash your hair and massage your head which is so relaxing and then they get to styling your hair! They also provide you with a bottle of water and/or champagne.

I decided to get my hair styled for my day in the Bahamas because I was hoping to get some cute pictures with my hair done while on the island. A lot of people did the opposite of me and got their hair styled after their excursions so they could look all dolled up for the evening’s dinner and activities. It’s totally up to you when you want to get  your hair styled, but I definitely think it was a fun experience. I also brought a starfish clip from home that I made so my stylist even put my hair half up for me and helped me put my clip in!

Excursions in Nassau

Nassau has so many excursions to choose from, I wish I had time to try out a couple of them! (I guess I will just have to go back). It’s nice because you can book them online right through Royal Caribbean or you can book them at the tour desk when you arrive on the cruise. (The popular excursions sell out fast so make sure you book your tours no later than the first day of the cruise just to be safe.

A couple of the excursions that sounded really fun include:

And many more!

Pearl Island Excursion

For our Nassau excursion, we decided to spend the day on a mini island near Nassau called Pearl Island with this tour. I highly recommend this excursion and I had the best day! The island was quite small so it made it easy to walk around and explore everywhere which was really nice. When we first arrived, we picked out our cabanas we wanted to stay in and then they asked us which welcome drinks we wanted. The vibe of the island was so perfect and I instantly felt so happy and relaxed.

There were a few different beaches to hang out on and one of the beaches had some cool stuff like kayaks and a big trampoline right in the middle of the ocean which looked really fun! Another cool feature of the island is that it had a lighthouse that you could actually climb to the top of and get an amazing view of the ocean and Nassau. Our excursion also came with a buffet lunch that included grilled chicken, fish, rice, beans and salad.

Another highlight of the excursion was seeing a starfish right by where we were hanging out on the beach! Also, a guided snorkeling tour is part of the excursion as well! There was also a cool area that had board games and a huge Jenga that you could play. And not to mention, I fell in love with all of the pastel colors everywhere and the cute little signs they hung up everywhere on the island. As the boat takes you back to Nassau at the end of the day, they do a little tour showing you some of the mansions on Paradise Island and that was actually really cool! A lot of celebrities own mansions in this area! I think my very favorite part about the excursion were the workers. They were so happy and funny and had amazing guest service!

You can book the exact tour I did here!

Exploring Nassau

After we finished our Pearl Island excursion (it went from 10 AM-3 PM), we walked around Nassau town for about 30 minutes to an hour. We had fun exploring the streets and interacting with locals. I absolutely loved all of the pastel buildings especially some really cute pink buildings. Also, the government buildings were really pretty and fun to explore as well. After exploring a bit, we decided to head back to the ship and relax and eat some snacks before dinner.

Dinner- Playmaker’s Sportsbar

For dinner we decided to try out Playmaker’s Sports Bar. It was located in the Promenade area and is a laid back and casual sports bar. One of my favorite features of the restaurant was that they had some old school arcade games which was really fun. The menu was pretty small, but had some classics you would imagine at a Sports Bar including nachos, potato skins, hamburger sliders, cheese fries and buffalo wings. I tried a little bit of everything and I think the nachos were my favorite. It comes on a huge tray so it is definitely big enough to share with a couple of people! Also, if you save room, I absolutely recommend the cazookie desert. It is a half baked cookie that comes in a cute little pan with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream on top. Yummy!

Evening Activities and Karaoke

After dinner, our group decided to head to Adult Karaoke and it was actually a lot of fun! Everyone that sang was actually really good at singing. (I was slightly disappointed because you always imagine a drunk person slurring their words when you think of Karaoke) haha.

After that, we watched a late night comedy show and it was really funny. We then watched our friend play some games in the Casino. The Casino is another fun place to be at night because there are so many people playing games and a great energy in the room. I like that on the cruise you can have a laid back night or “a night on the town.” It’s really up to you! The options are endless.

One of my favorite parts of the day is coming back to my stateroom at night and finding an animal towel! They are so cute and they make all different animals and it is just a really cute touch!

Navigator of the Seas Itinerary – DAY 3 Day at Sea

 Taco Bar and Soft Serve

I was a little worried that I would get bored during the Days at Sea, but that turned out not to be the case! I actually really enjoyed the Days at Sea because there were so many fun activities to do. For my first day at sea, I actually slept in until 11 AM because I had a long day the day before and was up late haha. So I started the day at one of my favorite places on the ship- The Taco Bar. The Taco Bar had tacos, burritos, quesadillas, rice and beans and nachos (I\’m having withdrawals now just talking about it). You can choose between chicken, pork or beef and then there is a big salsa bar area where you get to dress your tacos up and they have so many delicious toppings! I seriously loved the Taco Bar- I ate there several times. Also, another favorite thing to do was to get soft serve ice-cream! The stand was so cute and who can resist ice-cream? 🙂

Sexiest Man Competition

One of the events on today’s Cruise Compass was a Sexiest Man Competition that was happening by the pool at 1 PM. We decided to see what it was all about and it was quite entertaining. Any one can participate and a lot of people come out to watch. They also pick some women from the crowd to be the judges. The men take turns dancing around to different songs and then the audience helps vote for their favorite.

Mini Golf and Flow-rider

I absolutely love mini golf so I was so excited to see that they had mini golf outside on one of the upper decks! I definitely had a lot of fun and luckily I did not hit my ball off the ship like I thought I might! Haha.

Mini Golf

Another amazing feature of the newly renovated Navigator of Seas is the Flow-rider. The Flow-rider is a wave simulator that you can try your hand at surfing or boogy boarding on. There are instructors/lifeguards that help you and it is seriously a lot of fun! Definitely make time in your day for this activity!

Flow Rider

Family Feud Gameshow

I always have fun going to the different game shows that they put on during the cruise. They are always really funny and the crowd surprisingly gets way into them. For the Family Feud game show, they picked 10 people from the crowd and put them on two separate teams and then they split the room up so you cheer on “your family.” It is essentially exactly like the real game show! Definitely a fun afternoon activity.

Swimming and Hanging out in Cabanas

One of the best parts about the cruise is just hanging out by the pool and relaxing. They have the cutest cabanas everywhere and really colorful chairs and hammocks. The pool deck area was so cute and fun. They also have two different pool areas, one open to everyone that includes a cute little kid’s splash pad area and the other is adults only. The vibe for the adults only one is much different and that area is much more relaxed- so if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle- that might be the area you want to hang out in!

Sunset

I absolutely think it is imperative to see the sunset from the cruise at least one of your days! I hadn’t seen it yet because I was too busy having fun at dinner and activities and whatnot, but we decided to make a point of it. At first we went up to the pool deck area, but there were so many people also trying to take pictures of the sunset there so it was kind of overwhelming. We then headed to an area where there was seriously no one else and it was the best view of the sunset ever! It was in a “hidden alcove” on Deck 13 near where the teen hang out is. I promise you if you are on the Navigator of the Seas cruise ship, this is a hidden gem for sunset!

Sunset at Sea

Dinner at Hooked

We decided to try dinner at Hooked tonight and I absolutely fell in love with the vibes and design of the place. Everything was nautical themed with anchors, lighthouse and more. My mom’s room is nautical themed at home so I wish that she could have experienced this restaurant! She would have loved it for atmosphere alone. This restaurant, to my surprise, was one of my very favorites. I got the surf and turf which was a steak and lobster (it was my first time trying lobster)! We also tried a bunch of different side dishes and I really enjoyed the mac and cheese! The service at this restaurant was really great as well.

Evening Activities

It was pretty late by the time that we were done with dinner so a few of us went and caught the end of one of the Headliner shows which proved to be pretty entertaining! Then off to dinner  before our next port day in Labadee, Haiti!

Navigator of the Seas Itinerary DAY 4 Labadee, Haiti Port

Sand Bar Excursion

To be honest, I hadn’t heard a lot about Labadee before this trip, but I soon learned that it is actually Royal Caribbean’s private destination in Haiti! There were a lot of fun excursions to choose from, but we decided on a Sandbar Excursion. It sounded great because it was in the morning and then we would have the rest of the afternoon to explore Labadee. The excursion was pretty short, but we had a ton of fun. You get a welcome cocktail or soda as you sail towards the sandbar. The tide was high when we were there so it was a bit different than I expected because the water was up to my waist! Haha but it was honestly so beautiful there with the scenery of the clear water and the mountains in the background and the water was so warm so I was just honestly so happy. They also have snorkels and floaties if you want to use them and they play music on the boat! It honestly was so relaxing and I really enjoyed it because I don’t relax very often!

Exploring Labadee

After our Sandbar Excursion, we headed back to Labadee around noon right in time for lunch and a full afternoon of activities and/or relaxation! Labadee is Royal Caribbean’s private destination in Haiti. I was surprised to see that the activity options were endless. One of their most popular activities is a zip line that flies over the ocean with speeds up to 50 mph! They also have jet skiing, snorkeling, water slides, an aqua park, a roller-coaster and of course cabanas and beach chairs for those who want to relax. I was very pleasantly surprised with Labadee and it was definitely a quaint slice of paradise.

Besides all of the activities, there are 4 different beach areas that you can explore, hang out and relax on. The farther away that you walk, the less people that there will be. One beach area is reserved for suite guests only. If you happen to be a suite guest, you will love this area because there are less  people and the scenery and beach here are amazing.

If you aren’t a suite guest, don’t fret- you will still find amazing beaches! The island also was full of gorgeous  flora and fauna everywhere and cute decorations and hang out spots. One of my very favorite parts of the day was getting a Labadoozie in a pineapple! (You can get it cocktail or mocktail style too!) When I asked what the drink was comprised of they pretty much said a tropical pina colada.

Another amazing thing about Labadee is that there are two different buffet areas to get lunch- they actually bring the food down from the ship so that you don’t have to worry about getting on the ship just for lunch. The lunch was pretty yummy and they had everything from hamburgers and hot dogs to grilled chicken, rice and beans. They had fruit kabobs also which was a fun touch and all of the dessert was different tropical desserts from Labadee!

The area of Labadee is pretty walk-able and you get a map when leaving the ship so you can get your bearings. However if you are tired of walking, there are also trams that will pick you up and take you around. One area I didn’t have a chance to explore was the marketplace. This area sounded pretty cool because they have local artisans selling authentic handicrafts from Haiti so if you are wanting a souvenir- this is definitely the place to get one!

One last thing to mention about Labadee is that they also have some really pretty walking trails through forests that often to lead to scenic points so if you like hiking, this might be a fun activity for you! All in all, our day in Labadee was incredible!

BBQ Buffet Dinner and Fondue Night

After a long sun filled day, we decided to just have a laid-back dinner so we decided to eat at the buffet at the Windjammer Marketplace. Each night the buffet has different themes. The night we ate there happened to be a BBQ buffet and Fondue night. I was especially excited for the fondue night! They literally had chocolate fountains and tons of toppings- like cake, fruit and marshmallows to dip in it!

Evening Activities

After dinner, we headed to meet our group to play laser tag! It was so much fun and I can’t believe the have laser tag on the ship! How cool is that! There were many choices for the evening’s activities. Some of our friends went to an adult game show (they said it was definitely only for 18+ haha) and then later that night there was an exclusive night club that is only open one day a week so definitely don’t miss out!

That night, my husband and I played another round of mini golf and then we watched a movie under the stars- it was so much fun and really laid back!

Navigator of the Seas – DAY 5 Day at Sea

Escape Room- Observatorium

We had another day at sea and it was packed full of exciting activities! I was so excited to find out that Navigator of the Seas had an Escape room because I hadn’t had the chance to do one yet. Basically with an Escape Room, you have to work together as a team to solve puzzles and riddles and fulfill the objective.

It is also timed which definitely adds to the intensity! You have 60 minutes to solve all of the clues in time. We had a group of 7 and we were so excited because we beat the time! I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give anything away, but I definitely recommend this activity!

Escape Room edited

Belly Flop Competition

After the Escape room, we headed to the pool area for the Belly Flop competition which we were excited to watch! We made sure to get some tacos for lunch and some soft serve and headed to the upper pool deck area so we could get a good view. The Belly Flop competition ended up being hilarious and there were about 12 contestants. The crowd got to pick who they thought had the best belly flop!

Waterslides

After the Belly Flop competition, we got our swimsuits on and headed over towards the waterslides that we were really eager to try out! There are two different waterslides, The Perfect Storm and Riptide. We went on Riptide first and it was a face first waterslide where you are laying on a mat!

It was really fun and several parts you go throw tunnels that light up with rainbow lights. Then we tried out The Perfect Storm- which is a 2 person tube slide! It’s actually the longest slide at sea and another cool feature is the slide actually goes off the ship so you can see that you are over the ocean!

waterslides

Ice Skating Show

After going on the waterslides, we got cleaned up and then headed to the Ice Skating show. It was one of my favorite activities on the ship. It was honestly so cool! They performed to about 8 different songs and they all had different themes with different effects, costumes and so forth. The rink was pretty small, but they were still able to pull off some amazing stunts! I highly recommend going to this show!

The Bamboo Room

After the Ice Skating show, we met up with our group at the Bamboo Room. This was my very favorite theming of all of the restaurants on the ship. It was Tiki or Island themed and all of the cocktails/mocktails were themed around this as well. They even brought out drinks in this adorable Tiki mugs! One of the drinks came out in a really cute pink little baggy. It was so well thought out and creative! The vibes were laid back and every corner was picture worthy!

Dinner

We ate our last dinner at the ship’s Steakhouse. They are obviously well known for their steaks, but they did have some other choices and some really yummy side orders. My favorite part about this restaurant was the glass windows everywhere. We happened to be eating dinner at sunset and it was so beautiful watching it over the sea while eating our last meal.

Evening Activities

Our last night of activities were my very favorite! After dinner, our group headed to live band Karaoke which was actually so cool! I’ve never been to anything like it and it was so fun and entertaining and it turns out everyone in my group is really good at singing! We had so much fun dancing and singing and cheering each other on!

After Karaoke was over, they were having a big celebration/party in the promenade area which was a lot of fun. Our group then headed to one of the upper decks to star gaze and it was actually really incredible! You can see so many stars at sea and I even saw a  shooting star! Our group of friends just laughed and had great conversation and watched the stars. It was such an amazing last evening on the cruise .

I seriously had so much fun on this cruise! I would go on it again and again and probably never get bored. I highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of going on a cruise- whether it’s for the first time or the 5th time! The Navigator of the Seas will definitely not disappoint!

There you have it! A fun Navigator of the Seas itinerary!
