Day 1 in Boston-
Explore Boston’s Waterfront, History, and Culture
The New England Aquarium
After your breakfast at The Langham Hotel Boston, walk only 8 minutes to The New England Aquarium. The New England Aquarium is one of the best in the US and should definitely be on your Boston 2 Day itinerary.
The walk to the aquarium is beautiful and incredibly scenic. We got a Boston City PASS for our trip and I thought it was very worthwhile. It includes 4 different attractions within 9 days so you definitely end up saving money!
The first attraction on our Boston City PASS was the aquarium. The aquarium is very family friendly and had many enjoyable exhibits. You can actually see seals right outside of the aquarium too! (So if you are short on time, you can at least see these lovable sea creatures with out having to pay admission).
Another favorite exhibit was the Stingray exhibit where you can actually touch them! The set up of the aquarium is very unique and there is an incredible tank right in the center with a plethora of sea creatures. We also really loved the penguins! This is a great activity for kids in Boston on a 2 day itinerary.
Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park and The Greenway Carousel
After the aquarium, head over to Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park, offering stunning harbor views and a beautiful spot for a morning stroll.
Take a short walk to The Greenway Carousel, a unique and fun attraction for all ages. Our toddler absolutely loved this and it was not very expensive at all either!
The North End and Paul Revere House
Next, head to the North End, Boston’s oldest neighborhood, and visit the Paul Revere House, the former home of the famous American patriot, now a museum showcasing 18th-century furnishings and artifacts.
Explore the charming streets and alleys of the North End- the city’s oldest neighborhood, and be sure to stop by Mike’s Pastry or Modern Pastry for a classic Italian treat. This place is especially famous for cannoli’s!
Old North Church
Step into the historic Old North Church, where the famous “One if by land, two if by sea” signal was sent to Paul Revere in 1775, warning of the British invasion. This iconic church, built in 1723, is the oldest standing church in Boston and offers a glimpse into the city’s rich history.
Take a moment to admire the stunning Georgian architecture, climb to the top of the steeple for breathtaking views, and learn about the church’s significant role in American history.
Don’t forget to look for the famous signal lanterns, still hanging in the steeple, and imagine the brave patriots who risked everything for independence.
Quincy Market
Grab lunch at Quincy Market, a historic food hall offering a variety of local cuisine, including fresh seafood. Try a delicious lobster roll and clam chowder, two Boston staples!
Museum of Science
In the afternoon, visit the Museum of Science, featuring interactive exhibits and a stunning planetarium. This Museum is really incredible and our toddler had the best time.
Honestly, this museum is huge with so many great exhibits, you could probably spend all day here, but if you are only in Boston for 2 days, you will have to pick and choose the top exhibits you want to visit. We really enjoyed the Arctic adventure, Engineering Design, Colossal Fossils and Dinosaurs, Science in the Park and New England habitats.
We were able to visit this museum and the aquarium with our City Pass, you can book one here!
Beacon Hill and Acorn Street
Next, experience the quintessential Boston charm of Beacon Hill, one of the city’s most historic and picturesque neighborhoods. Wander down the gaslit streets, admiring the elegant Federal-style architecture and charming brick row houses.
Be sure to snap a photo on iconic Acorn Street, the most photographed street in the United States, with its picturesque cobblestones and colorful flower boxes. This enchanting neighborhood has been home to many notable Bostonians, including authors, politicians, and celebrities, and its unique blend of history, culture, and beauty makes it a must-visit destination during a Boston 2 day itinerary.
