10 Best Parks in St. George Utah
St. George Utah is a treasure trove of outdoor spaces, with a variety of parks that offer something for everyone. From playgrounds that spark imagination to historical sites that whisper stories from the past, and from red rock formations that awe to petroglyphs that reveal ancient secrets, St. George has a wealth of natural and cultural wonders to explore.
In this post, we’ll highlight the top 10 parks in St. George Utah, each one a unique gem that will be sure to delight the entire family.
1. Thunder Junction Park- Best Parks in St. George Utah
This is our very favorite park in St. George Utah. The fact that it is dinosaur themed and we have a dino obsessed toddler obviously might be a big part of it. But I promise you- it is so so cool! One of the very best things about this park in St. George Utah is that it is an all abilities park. I love that they have created structures that all little ones can use.
The dinosaur theme also makes this park quite fun and unique and there’s even a big volcano structure that erupts every once and awhile and smoke comes out. A lot of the slides and play areas area built into this volcano area so it’s quite fun.
This park is quite big and has some really fun features. There is even a train you can ride on, but make sure to check their website to see if it is open when you go because every time we have gone, it is has been closed unfortunately. It looks really cute and fun.
There is also a big fun splash pad area so make sure to bring clothes you don’t care about getting wet or swimsuits and a change of clothes and a towel. This park in St. George Utah is also perfect for parties or having a picnic because there are many shaded picnic tables.
2. Pioneer Park
Pioneer Park is another one of my favorite parks in St. George Utah. It is not a traditional park like some of the others with playgrounds and play structures. It is more of a natural playground if you will. It is a 52 acre park with red rocks everywhere to climb on.
It includes the Dixie Rock, views of the city and the St. George Temple, little hikes and adventures and BBQs and a covered pavilion. There is even a very very narrow little slot canyon (definitely don’t go through if you are claustrophobic like me). This park is also dog friendly.
There is also an area of the park where you can sit by a tiny arch. We have been to this park countless times and always love it. It’s a really great place to catch the sunset as well. Make sure to be really careful and watch your little ones and toddlers closely as there are some cliff edges and uneven rocks.
3. Cottonwood Cove Park
Cottonwood Cove Park is one of the most popular parks in St. George Utah. It’s also actually 24 acres! There is a really cool playground that includes 2 climbing walls, two covered pavilions, BBQs, sand volleyball, a horseshoe pit and picnic tables.
There are restrooms and an open grass area to play. There are a lot of nearby walks and hikes as well and The Santa Clara River Trail runs right through the park.
4. Town Square Park
This park right in the heart of the historic downtown is one of the must visit parks in St. George Utah. We absolutely love this park and have been many times on our St. George trips. Town Square Park is really great and so cute. It is also right next to the Children’s Museum which is a perfect activity if you are visiting with little ones.
Town Square Park has a little splash pad and little stream water play area that is so fun for kids! Your little ones can run around with their feet in the tiny water streams. There is also an old fashioned carousel for a minimal fee which is so fun. I also love that they have a big green grass area and many art installations around to look at.

5. Grandpa’s Pond Park
Grandpa’s Pond Park consists of a small playground and a little pond full of ducks that your little ones might have fun seeing. There is also a lot of walking trails around this area so it’s a nice park in St. George Utah to spend a few hours.
6. The Boilers Park
Boilers Park is one of the most unique parks in St. George Utah. It is located at Located at 295 West Buena Vista Boulevard in Washington, Utah. It has been a project in the making for a long time and it underwent a huge transformation over the last decade and is now a community park and conservation garden.
It has quite the history and was originally a source of fresh water and recreation for the area’s Native Americans and then the Latter-day settlers who arrived in the 1850s. Visitors can now get in and play in the warm springs today.
This park has many amenities including a large pavilion, picnic tables,picnic areas, a playground, and a pickle ball court. The park is perfect for picnics! In conjunction with the Washington County Conservancy District, the Boilers Park also displays a variety of indigenous flowers and plants.
7. Vernon Worthen Park
Vernon Worthen Park is a great community park located in the heart of St. George adjacent to the St. George Leisure Services Recreation Center. It is an 8 acre park that includes a really cute gazebo in the center, 4 picnic areas and restroom facilities. There is a playground with swings and 3 sand volleyball courts.
There are also new futsal and four pickleball courts. During the summer, this park hosts city concerts and is the St. George Marathon Finish Line and also has many seasonal festivals.
8. Canyon Park
Canyon Park is a really fun park for older kids in St. George Utah. There is actually a track and a Ninja style obstacle course where kids can time themselves with a little timer at the park. There are also some huge tunnel slides that go down the hillside, a huge sand play area and a few climbing areas.
There are a few picnic tables and restrooms and this is actually at the mouth of a popular trailhead called Hell Hole. Quite the name I know.
9. Dixie Springs Park
Dixie Springs Park is definitely one of the most fun parks in St. George Utah. The playground is quite big and so fun. There is also an all abilities area which is great. There are also swings, slides, climbing areas and fun musical instruments.
There is also a splash pad so bring a swimsuit and towel. There’s a dog park, restrooms and a pavilion and covered picnic tables. There are also lots of walking trails nearby.
10. Hidden Valley Park
Hidden Valley Park is a really cool park in St. George Utah. It’s a 12 acre park with many amenities including a splash pad! There are also tennis courts and a sand volleyball court.
